Locke is finishing up his last class for the day. The class is dismissed. On the way out Locke sees one of his students is still sitting in the back of the classroom looking glum.

LOCKE: Class is over for the day son

WALT: I’m not your son

LOCKE: Look.. ( tries to remember the boys name)..

WALT : Walt, my names Walt!

LOCKE: I’m sorry Walt, why are you still here?

WALT: My Dads stuck at work , he was going to pick me up but now he’s going to be late again’

LOCKE : I have some books to mark, you can stay here for a while , until your dad gets here.

WALT : (boys wanders around the classroom , we see him from behind , Lockes POV) [WALT Body Double]

Locke seeing the boy is bored and will put him off marking his books. Puts books down and pulls out small box from his bag, opens the box,Walt approaches, curious

WALT: What is it, like checkers?

LOCKE: Not really, it's a better game than checkers. You play checkers with your Pop?

WALT: No, he’s always busy.

LOCKE : I am sure your dad would rather be with you than working , but that is the way of the world. Where’s your mom?

WALT: She’s on a business trip, she should be back tomorrow.

LOCKE: That’s not long to wait.

WALT: I guess.

LOCKE: Backgammon's the oldest game in the world. Archaeologists found sets when they excavated the ancient ruins of Mesopotamia -- 5,000 years old. That's older than Jesus Christ.

WALT: Did they have dice and stuff?

LOCKE [nods]: But their dice weren't made of plastic. Their dice were made of bones.

WALT: Cool.

LOCKE: Two players. Two sides. One is light, one is dark. Walt, do you want to know a secret? [Locke looks mysterious]

WALT: What is it?

LOCKE: I came fourth in a backgammon tournament once. [Locke and Walt smile]

Later

Michael run’s along school corridor. Bump’s into Dr. Linus

MICHAEL: Excuse me. Hey, have you seen my boy?

DR.LINUS: What’s his name?

MICHAEL: Walt, Walter Dawson.

DR.LINUS: Come with me. We look after all our students here , each one is special to us. [Turns around into office, pulls file from cabinet]

Dr. Linus and Michael come to Lockes classroom. Dr .Linus opens the door.

DR.LINUS: I have a worried parent here Mr Locke.

MICHAEL: Walt , I was worried sick something happened to you.

WALT: Mr Locke has been keeping me company.

MICHAEL: I'm sure Mr. Locke doesn't want a kid hanging around him all day. Go pack your bag.[ Body Double gets up goes out of shot ]

LOCKE: It’s no problem, your son is a worthy opponent.

MICHAEL: Thanks for looking after him.

LOCKE: My pleasure.

WALT: Bye

LOCKE: Goodbye.

MICHAEL: [put’s his arm around Walt] Come here.

DR LINUS: Well at least one of the pupils has a caring father.

LOCKE: [nods]
